THE DYNAMICS
OF
DISCIPLINE

Job 5:17
DISCIPLINE OF THE ALMIGHTY
Blessed is the one whom God corrects;
so do not despise
the discipline of the Almighty.

Numbers 11:4-6
THE RABBLE CRAVES MEAT TO EAT
The rabble with them began to crave other food,
and again the Israelites started wailing and said,
“If only we had meat to eat!
We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—
also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.
But now we have lost our appetite;
we never see anything but this manna!”

Numbers 11:33-34
GOD'S WRATH KILLS THEM WITH A PLAGUE
IMPENITENT GLUTTONY & REBELLION
While the meat was still between their teeth
and before it could be consumed,
the anger of the Lord burned against the people,
and he struck them with a severe plague.
Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah,
because there they buried the people
who had craved other food.

Proverbs 1:7
FEAR OF GOD AND DISCIPLINE REQUIRED
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 5:23
DISCIPLINE AND LIFE
For lack of discipline they will die,
led astray by their own great folly.

Proverbs 12:1
DISCIPLINE AND KNOWLEDGE
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but whoever hates correction is stupid.

Proverbs 13:18
POVERTY & SHAME FOR LACK OF DISCIPLINE
Whoever disregards discipline
comes to poverty and shame,
but whoever heeds correction is honored.

Proverbs 15:10
HATRED OF DISCIPLINE & DEATH
Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path;
the one who hates correction will die.

Proverbs 15:32
DISREGARD OF DISCIPLINE
Those who disregard discipline
despise themselves,
but the one who heeds correction
gains understanding.

Proverbs 19:20
THE WISDOM OF DISCIPLINE
Listen to advice and accept discipline,
and at the end
you will be counted among the wise.

Proverbs 23:2-3
GLUTTONY
Put a knife to your throat
if you are given to gluttony.
Do not crave his delicacies,
for that food is deceptive.
